Fixes That "git 'r sold!"
 
Arvada resident Doyle Bunch had a constant reminder of the weak housing market when he considered putting his home up for sale last summer.
 
"The house across the street was on the market for four months, and it has the exact same floor plan (as mine)," the 55-year-old Bunch said. So Bunch spent the summer and part of the fall remodeling his home, per his real estate agent's instructions.
 
The work paid off. He sold the house in less than a month late last year. He didn't have to spend a mint to make it happen. In fact, most of the changes were modest in scale and scope. Real estate experts say getting the biggest return on investment - or "ROI" - in today's market doesn't require emptying one's wallet. Real Estate Outlook:
      Change Anticipated
 
The national economic headlines continue to be bearish, but some of the underlying fundamentals for real estate are pointing to better days ahead.

Take home mortgage rates: Last week thirty year fixed rates dropped below the seemingly-unbreakable five percent barrier for the first time on record, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

New thirty year loans went for an average 4.89 percent, while fifteen year loans were just above 4.6 percent.
Equally important, the outlines of the Obama administration's and Congress's plans to turn around the housing markets just became clearer.
